Guides and manuals

Play publishes buying guides and technical manuals, in five languages. You will find them next to the product when you are choosing, and all together on this page.

How to choose

They are there to help you buy, not to tell you what level you are. Start from how you want to play, and from the variety you need.

  • Juggling balls

A guide to toss-juggling balls. If you are starting, the BBX is soft, forgives collisions and does not roll away. Russians come later, when the throw is already solid. It does not cover bounce, spinning or contact.

  • Juggling clubs

Every Play club is built not to break. If you are starting or teaching, begin with a Prima or a PX3 with a smooth handle. Sirius is the most common size; Quantum is where Play started. Off catalogue: the Generator.

  • Contact poi

If you are starting, take a flexible 6 mm rope (Practice 70 or Standard 80). The 10 mm rope is semi-rigid and is mainly for people who throw. Four ball diameters, two knobs, and the Generator to customise.

  • Perfect Hoops

Play hula hoops, not CIRCUS DIVISION aerial hoops. A 20 mm tube and a generous diameter (often 90 or 100 cm) forgive more when you are learning. 16 mm and Light once the tricks are already off the body.

  • Aerial silks

The guide shows how to work out the length with the Play formula, and whether to choose standard 160 cm or SLIM 130 cm. It also matches the anchor kit to a ceiling or a beam. For anyone who teaches or rigs: it does not replace a course.

  • Aerial hoops

The guide shows how to find the size, from seat to crown, and whether to hang from one point or two. It also matches the kit to the ceiling. It is not a hula hoop.

  • Kevlar wicks and ropes

The guide asks whether the fibre must soak fuel or stay dry, and whether you need a flat wick or a rope for knots. Then you choose the size. 100% PURE KEVLAR made in Italy; custom sizes on request.

  • Fire performance guidelines

What to have in place before you light: the space, a safety person, the prop and the fuel. It does not replace a teacher, a permit or insurance.

CIRCUS DIVISION technical manuals

CIRCUS DIVISION technical manuals collect working loads, assembly, inspection and UNI EN 913:2019 certification. They are for anyone who anchors, teaches, or has to answer an inspector.

  • Aerial silks

Working load 150 daN. The manual gives the length formula, standard 160 cm and SLIM 130 widths, the knot and the anchor kits. It is for anyone who teaches or rigs a 100% polyester silk.

  • Aerial silks hook

Working load 170 daN. The manual covers clove-hitch rigging, inspections and when to take it out of service. The hook has a stainless steel core and a silicone body.

  • Ceiling anchor plate

Working load 400 daN on the plate; once installed, 250 daN in concrete and 200 daN in wood. The manual lists throughbolts, screws and how to drill. It is for anyone anchoring to a ceiling or a beam.

  • Aerial hoops

Working load 170 daN. The manual explains size from seat to crown, one point or two, and the three anchoring systems. There are six diameters, from 85 to 110 cm.

  • Free standing aerial rig

Working load 400 daN. The manual covers tool-free assembly, the TP420, TP560 and TP700 heights, and inspection. No welds, and it is used indoors or outdoors.
